In 1831 this flag was embroidered and gifted to the Civic Guard by three Ladies: Liberata Ruscelloni, Bettina Ferrari and Vittoria Spagni. After having been guarded for 17 years by the countess Palazzi Sartoretti, in 1848 it was given back to the National Guard of Reggio (the red strip was lost).
