A monumental architectural structure was erected on the western side of the city&#8217;s main square, decorated with damasks. It was built by the architect Giovanni Paglia to a design by Pietro Ferrarini, while the allegorical paintings that adorned it were by the painter Pietro Sogliani. Two triumphal floats symbolising <em>Victory<\/em> and <em>Peace<\/em> also paraded, preceded by the <em>National Guard<\/em> and followed by the <em>Battalion of Hope<\/em>.
