On January 10, 1859 Vittorio Emanuele III makes a famous speech called “the grief cry…” signing the beginning of the war against Austria and causing a great enthusiasm among the Italian patriots. On 7th February Napoleon seems to sustain Piedmont in case of war. In this big portrait the King holds a little paper with these famous words.
