«Sono in Italia dal 1991 e faccio l’operaio, anche se in Burkina Faso ero agricoltore. In provincia di Reggio Emilia ci sono 800 burkinabé, cioè persone del Burkina Faso. Insieme formiamo una comunità molto unita. Io sono il portabandiera, guardo i bisogni che esprimono i miei connazionali e provo a dare una risposta. Di fronte alla crisi che ha colpito tutti, qui come in Burkina, abbiamo pensato che per uscirne si poteva studiare come si fa l’agricoltura nel reggiano per portare questo sistema, che è efficace e pulito, anche da noi in Africa. In Burkina, infatti, il 95 per cento delle persone si dedica all’agricoltura. Solo che, invece del trattore, usa la zappa e se può permetterselo ricorre ai prodotti chimici, che però rovinano la terra e i prodotti. Con l’aiuto di Dinamica, la scuola di formazione in agricoltura, della Regione, dell’Unione Europea e di alcune cooperative come Il Gabbiano, abbiamo avviato il progetto, frequentato corsi di formazione sulle tecniche agricole e presto ne faremo altri sulla meccanica agricola per imparare, ad esempio, a riparare i trattori. Già tre persone che hanno frequentato questi corsi sono andati in Africa a fare formazione là e stanno avendo un grande successo. Noi vorremmo spiegare alla nostra gente che non è emigrando che si ottiene una vita migliore. Noi che abbiamo fatto la prima emigrazione, possiamo far sì che le condizioni migliorino nel nostro Paese natale, insegnando ai nostri connazionali quello che abbiamo imparato qui».

  «I came to Italy in 1991 and I am a worker here, although in Burkina Faso I was a farmer. In the Reggio Emilia province there are 800 Burkinabé, Burkina Faso nationals. Together we have forged a tightly knit community. I’m the standard-bearer, I look at needs expressed by my compatriots and try to fulfil them. Faced with the crisis which has affected everyone, both here and in Burkina, we thought about how we could study agriculture in the Reggio area and apply this effective and clean system back in Africa. Indeed in Burkina, 95 percent of the population works in agriculture. But instead of tractors they use hoes and if they can afford it, they apply chemical products which damage the land and products. With the help of Dinamica, the agricultural training school, the regional authorities, the European Union and a few cooperatives such as Il Gabbiano, we have launched a project, attended training courses on agricultural techniques and soon we’ll hold others on agricultural mechanics, to learn, for example, how to repair a tractor. Already three people who attended these courses have returned to Africa to train locals and they have been successful. We would like to explain to our people that emigration is not the only key to a better life. As the first emigrants, we can improve conditions in our country of origin through teaching compatriots the things we have learned over here».
