Erika SArtori

E io: “No, niente trattore!”.

  • ERIKA SARTORI - 43, administrator of the Ferretti farming company, member of the Reggio wine consortium.

«My husband Luca calls me Angela Merkel. At home, I’m the bad guy. Sometimes we joke and he says: “Have you approved the budget yet? Can we have a tractor?” And I say: “No! No tractors!”. The bottom line here is that I don’t come from the world of agriculture. I studied at a scientific high school and graduated in Law at university. I met Luca when I was 23 and he asked me to work with him in the farming business founded by his parents. He was so passionate about it that it seemed like a good idea. I started taking care of the administrative side of things but came into contact with a reality that was very different from what I expected. It was and still is a patriarchal, male world. So I rolled my sleeves up and began taking courses in IT, company management… I’ve complete a list of courses this long, which gave me knowledge I previously didn’t have. Little by little my role became important, and led to professional experiences beyond the company itself. I’m a member of the board of directors of the Puianello cooperative of cellars, the regional council of Confcooperative, I’m a member of the Reggio wine consortium and they’ve asked me to become a member of the board of directors of Confagricoltura. Almost always I’m the only woman. And that says it all. All of these positions enable me to have a broader vision of things. I’m acquiring entrepreneurial capabilities and skills which go beyond those of a farm’s organisational system. And in agriculture too, it’s important that we start thinking in terms of longer term plans. And we must start moving together in the same direction. Only then will our voice be heard».
