«Sono stata la preside dello Zanelli per 12 anni, a partire dal 2000. Oggi sono in pensione, ma lavoro per l’Associazione Nazionale Presidi: mi occupo a tempo pieno della formazione dei dirigenti scolastici dell’Emilia Romagna e faccio attività di consulenza. Di fatto sono impegnatissima, ma non so stare ferma e poi amo le sfide. Lo dimostra il fatto che ho accettato l’incarico di dirigente dell’Istituto Zanelli. Tutti dicevano che ero matta: un po’ perché ho una formazione classica e quindi l’agraria non è il mio pane, ma soprattutto perché sono una donna e questo pareva un problema irrisolvibile. Il mondo agrario, infatti, è profondamente maschilista. Dopo il primo anno invece, grazie allo staff con cui ho collaborato, la mia scelta è stata vincente.
In 12 anni abbiamo lavorato benissimo e dato anche un contributo alla città. Abbiamo mantenuto l’autonomia di un istituto storico quando in Italia, all’inizio degli anni Duemila, tutti si rivolgevano all’industria.
Abbiamo ampliato l’offerta formativa, ci siamo molto rinnovati, abbiamo investito nei laboratori. Io poi mi sono concentrata sull’orientamento.
La cosa più bella di questo lavoro, quella che mi manca di più, è il rapporto con gli studenti. Avevo sempre la porta aperta e c’era la fila per entrare da me, nonostante pretendessi molto da loro, a cominciare dal comportamento corretto. Devo confessare che avevo un’idea sbagliata dei ragazzi dell’agrario, pensavo avessero poco sensibilità. Mi sono ricreduta completamente: sono ragazzi autentici che mi hanno conquistato. Con loro ho avuto enormi soddisfazioni».

  “I was headmistress at the Zanelli college for 12 years, starting in 2000. Now I’m retired but I still work for the National Headmasters Association: I deal with the training of school headmasters of Emilia Romagna on a full-time basis, and I also act as a consultant. I’m always extremely busy, in fact, but I am not a person to idle around and I like challenges. This is proved by the fact that I accepted the position of headmistress at the Zanelli college. Everyone said I was crazy: in one way because I had a classic education myself, so agriculture is not really my field, but above all because I’m a woman and this seemed an unsolvable problem. The world of agriculture is in fact very much a male field. After the first year, however, thanks to the staff I worked with, my decision proved to be a winning one. We worked very well for 12 years and we have also contributed something towards the city. We maintained this historic college autonomous, which is quite an achievement if you think that since the turn of the century, all schools have turned to industry for support. We broadened our offer of courses and really updated ourselves. We also invested in laboratories. Personally, I focused on career advice. The best thing about this job and the thing I miss most is the rapport with the pupils. My door was always open and there was a queue of pupils waiting to see me, in spite of the fact that I demanded a lot from them, starting from correct behaviour. I have to confess that I had the wrong idea of pupils studying in the agricultural schools, as I used to think they were lacking in sensitivity. I’ve changed my mind completely: they are very genuine and have really won me over and given me a great deal of satisfaction”.
